The day before
- Read the advert again and list the three things the role needs most.
- For each, prepare one real example from your studies, attachment, work or projects.
- Find out what the organisation does, who it serves, and anything recent it is proud of.
- Confirm the time, the place or link, and who you will meet. Plan to arrive, or log in, ten minutes early.
Answering with examples
When you are asked about something you have done, describe the situation, what you did, and what came of it — in about a minute. Say “I”, not “we”: they are interviewing you.
If you do not know an answer, say so, and say how you would find out. That is a good answer.
Video and phone interviews
- Test the link and your camera beforehand. Use earphones if you have them.
- Sit facing a window or a light, in a quiet place, with a plain background.
- Have your CV and notes beside you, not on the same screen.
- If the connection drops, rejoin straight away; it happens to everyone.
Questions to ask them
- What does a good first three months look like in this role?
- Who would I work with day to day?
- How do people learn and get feedback here?
Afterwards
Send a short thank-you message the same day. If you applied through CareerCraft Connections, your application page shows each step, and you can confirm or move interview times there.
A genuine employer never asks you to pay anything at any stage.
